The Buck Pub - 2024
Our annual village community event in Buckland
Buckland Village Hall HP22 5JB
Wow. That was busy! Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Buck Pub:
- We had a full house on Friday evening for the
wine tasting. Thanks to Aston Wine Club
- The village hall was packed again on Saturday
for the quiz night
- We had great weather on Sunday when the village
hall garden was full for the music
This year’s event was a day shorter than previous years as
we avoided a bank holiday. Shorter, but still fun and considerably easier to
organise!
Although this is primarily a community event and not a
charity fundraising event, we did still raise almost £1,000 to be split between
the three charities we chose to support: Youth Concern, Hector’s House and
Brain Tumour Research.
My special thanks to Tim Cooper and Dayla for all their hard
work setting up and taking down the bar, and to all those volunteers who helped
to make the weekend a success. Setting everything up; serving behind the bar;
cooking food; washing up; taking all the rubbish/recycle away; clearing up on
Monday. It takes a lot of people.
There had been a myth going around that it was mostly
‘non-village residents’ who attend Buck Pub, so at each session I asked for a
show of hands from anyone who lives in the village, or who was visiting family
or friends in the village. The response
was the same on each day with virtually everyone attending raising their
hand. This really is a Buckland
community event. Thank you
My thoughts on Buck Pub 2025. I’m happy to organise again but we will
certainly need to change a few things including more volunteers to manage key
activities over the weekend and a shorter music festival. It was just a bit too much for me and I’m
exhausted!
Buck Pub 2025 will be from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July
